How to Make Aromatherapy Candles
So now that you know the reasons you should be making your own candles, let’s get going!
Step 1) Get Prepared
First off, Here is what you need:
- Essential oils
- Natural Soy Wax Flakes
- 100% Natural Cotton Wick
- Candle Dye (Optional)
- A container of choice (Mason Jars, Jelly Jars) Here are some good ones!
- Pencil or a wick centering tool
- Wood stick (to stir the wax)
- Clean can (to melt wax)
Step 2) Make it!
- First, you need to make a double boiler. Do this by taking a pot and adding water. Bring that water to boil. Keep it on the lowest flame possible.
- Next, place the wax flakes into the can and place it into the water until it melts.
- While you wait, cut wicks to fit your jar of choice (clean mason jars, tins, glass votives) and tape around a pencil or use the wick centering tool and place it on the jar.
- Once the wax melts, stir in your essential oils. The amount you add will depend on how strong you want your scent. Add a few drops and mix, continue to do this till you get the desired scent. This will also be the time you can add dye if you choose to do so.
- Pour into your prepared container.
- Allow to cool.
- All done.
If you are like most people than you probably don’t attempt crafts because of the level of difficulty. But this project is very simple.
Making your own aromatherapy candles is a great way to get the same benefits you would from buying them from the store but you also ensure you don’t buy toxic candles.
